"Our aim must be to win all possible medals," said German team coach Holger Schmezer. At the Dressage World Cup Final in the Danish city of Aarhus in the national equestrian center at Vilhelmsborg the optimum was achieved. Already in her World Cup Final debut Ulla Salzgeber secured her first final win. With a score of 81.24 per cent she put abaord Rusty in the Kuer to music Isabell Werth/Antony FRH in second (79.16) and Rudolf Zeilinger/Livijno in third place (78.55) and achieved therewith also the overall victory including an Audi car. The Danish combination Lars Petersen and Blue Hors Cavan placed in the Short- Grand Prix and the freestyle test (76.27) fourth and therefore also overall. With a fifth place in the freestyle test (74.55) German- based Dutch rider Gonnelien Rothenberger-Gordijn and her Oldenburg gelding Leonardo da Vinci made it in the overall standings also to fifth place. With the Hannoverian stallion Weyden she achieved victory in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Special of the CDI Tour.

All riders were full of praise for the organization, who had taken over the final just two months ahead of the event and were also hindered by the outbreak of the foot- and- mouth- disease. They would have set up a 'perfect' final as Ulla Salzgeber said in the name of all riders and which was confirmed by the judge representative Mariette Withages. Also Heike Kemmer, who had won the Intermediaire II and the Grand Prix Kuer of the CDI tour aboard Caesar, saw in Aarhus a very important event, "It gives encouragement also to the other organizers to continue and not to cancel their shows because of the disease." The courage of the Danish organizers was awarded with a great event and their thanks went also in the direction of late Hermann Duckek, who has just died in March. He was the one, who had brought the World Cup Final to Aarhus.
