Der Wissenschaftler Doktor Faust verzweifelt mit neunzig Jahren an seinem Unwissen, das ihm trotz lebenslanger Forschung geblieben ist. Er will sich das Leben nehmen, doch willigt schließlich in einem Pakt mit dem Teufel ein: Er verkauft Méphistophélès (Robert Hale) seine Seele und erhält dafür seine Jugend zurück und darf sich auf ein Liebesabenteuer mit Marguerite freuen. Faust und der Teufel gehen auf ein Fest, wo Méphistophélès das Lied vom Goldenen Kalb anstimmt und den Feiernden Getränke herbeizaubert. 

The scientist Doktor Faust despairs at the age of ninety about his still existing ignorance after a life-long research work. He intends to commit suicide, but finally agrees to a deal with the devil. He sells his soul to Méphistophélès (Robert Hale) and recovers youth in return and can look forward to a love affaire with Marguerite. Faust and the devil join a festivity at Marquerite's town, where Méphistophélès sings the song of the golden calf and conjures up drinks for the celebrating town people.

Marguerites Bruder Valentin (José Julián Frontal), der in den Krieg ziehen wird, und sein Freund Sebiél (Cecilia Díaz), der zugleich der innigste Verehrer Marguerites ist. Ihm vertraut Valentin seine Schwester an. 

Marguerite's brother Valentin (José Julián Frontal), who will go to war, and his friend Sebiél (Cecilia Díaz), who is at the same time the most faithful admirer and friend of Marguerite. In his hands gives Valentin his sister.

Valentin (Jean-François Lapointe) und Siébel (Lola Casariego) sind besorg um die Zukunft und die Prophezeiungen von Méphistophélès.

Valentin (Jean-François Lapointe) and Siébel (Lola Casariego) are worried about the future and the prophecies of Méphistophélès.

Valentin und die Dorfleute erkennen aber am Ende den Teufel  und wehren ihn mit zwei zum Kreuz verschränkte Gewehre ab.

Valentin and the town  people recognize finally the devil and block him for the time being with two crossed guns.

Die Dorfleute setzen ihre Fest in ausgelassener Stimmung fort. 

The town people continue their festivity in an exuberant mood.

Aber Méphistophélès und Faust kehren zurück und legen ein kostbares Kollier und Kleid an Marguerites Tür nieder. Die Nachbarin rät ihr sogar den Schmuck zu behalten.

But Méphistophélès and Faust return and put down a precious necklace and dress at Marguerite's door. Her neighbor even advise her to accept it and wear it.
